Carnival of the Mobilists
Wednesday, March 26, 2008
As you most probably know, Carnival of the Mobilists exposes you to the very best posts of every week, all written about mobile and gathered together in a central place. You can read the summary on the host's site and click on any story that catches your eye. Each week, it'll be hosted at a different site, so you can visit the Carnival and experience both new writers about mobile, as well as all your old favourites. Everyweek, Judy Breck -the keeper of the tents- comes up with a beautiful intro for that week's carnival host, and as usual I copy this intro as it is and place it here without any modification. Actually, the above intro paragraph is a whole copy and paste from mobili.st (COM's home). This is maybe because I'm too lazy to come up with some of my own words, or because I'm sure they won't do better than Judy's intro, but she's ok with this as she mentioned in her latest Mobilists email. However, I decided to add her signature below each COM I announce here on Symbiano-Tek (if she doesn't mind :), so people would know that these are actually not my words, instead, I borrowed them from Judy. Here is a glimpse of this week's Carnival: With a swirl of red and yellow and an invitation to pick up some imaginary funnel cake, SituationalMarketing conducts a virtual tour down this week's midway of top mobilist blogging. Read the sweet tastes of emergent mobile that are exciting and very real. Judy Breck Next Week: Mobilestance >>> Labels: Carnival of Mobilists, CoM

Number 102 is Here!
Monday, December 3, 2007
Carnival of the Mobilists #102 Things have quite changed since I last hosted CoM 4 months ago(if you recall CoM: Pharaoh's style). And I'm really proud to be hosting Carnival of the Mobilists for the second time. Let's skip all the talking and get direct into the real stuff: Let's warm up by statistics brought by Bryan Alexander from Smart Mobs. Guess how many mobile phones in the world will there be this week! Now to News brought to us by Jason Devitt of SkyDeck about Verizon Wireless integrating CDMA into their network and how is this can be beneficial to all consumers. Read Verizon opens up - slightly. From Phil For Humanity, Phil B predicts the death of wristwatches on the hands of cellphones. Will this really happen? Find out at Wristwatches are a Dying Technology. Moving to Mobile Software and applications, Cassanova of Thoughts of a future engineer answers questions concerning the reason Open Source developers do freeware and what do they benefit from that, in his article: Making money with free software. On CellPhoneGuru we jump to devices and new releases where Mike explains the four facilities offered with the "to be released" Nokia 2125. To Mobile Web, Internet and Wap, Dennis Bournique guides us through to mobilize Web Blogs. Check the 4 Easy Ways to make your Blog more friendy on Wap Review. Also Martin Sauter of Mobile Society brings us a new technique that would enhance our Mobile browsing experience. Think about what bothers you most when doing mobile browsing then check at Martin's full article. And Martin, you're welcome to Egypt at any time :) Paul Ruppert of Mobile Point View tells us how Mobile can play a role social networking and communication in his article Mobile Social Networking and Ancient Talking Cultures. And Finally, Tom Godber from Masabi wonders if operators are going to let the recently updated Google Maps continue with calculating location without GPS or they gonna scramble it like they did with a similar algorithm technique. Read the full story at Masabi's Cell IDs and Location-Based Services. ((Post of the Week)) P2P maybe be a killer application for mobile networks. But why operators aren't making use of it? Or do they even know about it? I give Ajit Jaokar's article the Post of the Week for bringing this up! Read "P2P may be Google's biggest weakness and an Operator's biggest asset" on Open Gardens Blog. That's all! Don't forget to check next week's CoM at Golden Swamp. You can also submit your blog article to the next edition of CoM using the carnival submission form. Thanks a lot and you're welcome back to Symbiano-Tek at any time ;) Labels: Carnival of Mobilists, CoM
