A very good use for the Calendar

Posted by Tarek in ,

I used to have my uni schedule on my phone as a jpg picture. Everytime I wanted to check my schedule, I popped up the gallery, opened the picture and kept zooming in till my desired slot. This usually took much time. I thought, there must be an application out there that facilitates the job.. Calendar!

I actually never use S60 Calendar. I dunno if it's because I have a very good memory or don't have much to do much in life. However I found out that with Nokia's Calendar you can enter all of your schedule data once, under the meeting template, then make it repeat weekly. What makes it easier is the stand-by screen. Suppose you have a Computer Science Lecture that you need to know its place. Just get your phone out of your pocket and look at it:
12:00, 2:00 Computer Sc. Lec, H4
Changing automatically, I love that magic part! Unfortunately I can't post any screenshots right now as my screen got fried yesterday (again!).

umm...err... this is a post suggesting that i use the Calendar app as a calendar?

this is the least interesting post i've read on this site. honestly, Tarek, you used to use an image of a calendar instead? if it's just too difficult to get your meetings/etc into the calendar app (which you didn't mention, but is the only reasonable motive i can think of for the Gallery hack you used) then you should look into google calendar and goosync. or any other option (there are plenty of ways to do this - how about Ovi Suite?)

I just never use the calendar. And when I use it I used it just to store just some reminders, like birthdays or so. I never thought to store my uni schedule in it. So when I finally got this idea, I thought to share so other people would know.

The thing is, there is no option to store schedule inside the calendar, (and that's why I never thought before to store my schedule in it) so many people don't know they could work around this using meeting template to get the desired result. That's one thing, also I liked the way events pop on the standy-by screen.

Yet, I wouldn't have posted this if I didn't know many people never thought of this use. And I know that because I didn't know it, and it amazed many people that I know.

Thanks for your feed back :) And btw, ovi is not available to Egypt.
