Where did your Nokia come from?

Posted by Tarek in

I found this interesting post on myE65 Blog. It says, where did your Nokia come from? Using your phone's IMEI you can determine where it has been assembled. Based on that, is your phone's quality. For example, if your phone crashes continuously, got cracks on it or so, then it's most probably manafuctured in a bad quality factory.

EDIT: The info below is not real, there are actually no factories in Emirates nor Azerbaijan. But you can try this thing just for fun :) Like if there were factories in those places and those 2 numbers in IMEI resembled them, where would your Nokia come from?
Dial *#06# to display your IMEI then,
  • IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 0 , 2 or 2 , 0 this means your cell phone was assembled in Emirates which is very Bad quality
  • IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 0 , 8 or 8 , 0 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Germany which is fair quality
  • IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 0 , 1 or 1 , 0 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Finland which is very Good
  • IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 0 , 0 this means your cell phone was manufactured in original factory which is the best Mobile Quality
  • IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 1 , 3 this means your cell phone was assembled in Azerbaijan which is very Bad quality and also dangerous for your health
I was lucky my phone was manufactured in original factory :) So, What about you? Where did your Nokia come from?

You don't seriously believe that this information is correct. For starters, there is NO Nokia factory in Emirates. And if you have been reading the news over the past 1 year, you would remember that Nokia shut their German factory down causing an uproar from the local community and they had to pay to close that issue.

Nokia has factories in China & India. This is the same as Sony, Panasonic having factories in Malaysia, China etc. They don't make bad products just because they are made outside their home country.

But if you really wanted to know where your Nokia came from... just read the label on the box!

This is a wrong definition Tarek, its true that IMEI gives out info on the place where the device is assembled but the built quality and health risk issue I cannot agree.Even the Original Factory made devices sometimes come out with faults. The Main reason for them to establish plants, outside Europe is due to the Low labour costs, specially in China and India, but the standards are almost the same.Otherwise they will be in a big trouble.

@anonymous, you could have said that less aggressively.

@Ravindra, thanks mate, I just liked the theory so I didn't look into details.. I will edit the post now.
