N81 8GB: Music Power

ist2_1773478_zombie_djMy phone is my Music player. What I care probably the most about a phone is its music playing capabilities; sound quality/volume, number of songs it can carry and simplicity in control. I literally listen to music on my phone everyday, every time when there is nothing to do or when there is.

Before the N81, I used to move around with about 300 tracks on my N80's 1GB miniSD. The phone just wouldn't stop screaming memory low delete some data. It also gets more frustrating when I want to add a song, then I have to delete one in exchange so there will be enough space for it.

8GB is like heaven! Whatever music I want to listen to I could just download them to the mass memory without fear of being faced by the stupid memory low message! Thumbs UP!

Headset: I don't know if it's the phone or the supplied headsets, but the sound quality produced when playing music is absolutely impressive! I just can't get enough of it!

Visualisation: Visualisation looks.. damn cheap! I agree I don't usually launch visualization when I listen to music, but when I tried to, I was.. disgusted, honestly! Thumbs DOWN!

Audio: Audio settings and equalizer... my favorite places in music player. Applying loudness and stereo widening to music just adds more shine to sound quality..

Music Keys and NaviWheel: I love dedicated music keys. Really they make life easier. You don't have to jump to the music player everytime you want to change a track. However, the way they're positioned in the N81 exposes them to accidental hits very often when using the D-Pad. Also the time lag between pressing the key and it's action annoys me a lot.

I love scrolling with the NaviWheel! It's fast and its more like entertaining than just holding down a key to scroll. My only take about it is that NaviWheel's functioning is subject to softness of hand. I noticed when my finger is very soft, I couldn't get it to scroll smoothly. When my finger is little damper it functions ok. I think this could be fixed by adding some sensitivity option in NaviWheel settings.

To sum up, N81 8GB is an excellent Music player in all aspects. Nevertheless, some little work has to be done here and there to become perfect.
