While everybody else are busy reviewing new mobile phones, I review them, the reviewers. Welcome to the third of my series of mobile Blogs review. First of all I apologize for postponing this week's review but there will be a slight change that I'll mention at the end of this post. Anyway, my guest this week is Symbian World Symbian World is Authored by one of the youngest Mobile enthusiasts in the Blogosphere; Norman John, a 17 years old German student who's in love with S60 Devices. Before I begin, I have to mention: The following are all my personal opinions as a reader and It might also stand up for most other readers' thoughts. The aim of this review is to help the blog owner/author improve, modify or fix whatever necessary to enhance the blog's quality. So, let's get started :) Blog Construction/Design: Good: The over all design is awesome. Colors are nice and attractive, theme is not complexed and lets you get what you want easy and fast from the site. Bad: - See this picture on the left? The title is "SYMBIANWORLD RSS", the body is recent posts! I guess they don't match.
- Also the link to feed- SYMBIANWORLD RSS- some might not notice it's a clickable link. That would be because it's the same color as other items' title, like TOP-Post for example which is not a link. Besides, like I said in the previous point, it shouldn't have a body. Not this body. And hey, clicking it takes you to homepage? Where is a real RSS feed?!!.
- I think it would be better to move BlogRoll downwards, and put a little more important item in place. Like About Author, this "SYMBIANWORLD RSS", or that search box for example.
- Tag Cloud is useless when a column of tags is present
- Is that a search box under top posts?? If so, why isn't there a sign or something??
I think a better attention should be given to that right column. Some modifications should be taken care of. Nevertheless, the overall is very good. Content Content Construction Good: - Title is presented as a permalink to the titled post which is good.
- Content is delivered neat and organized.
- Reference links, download links, screenshots and videos are provided to support the post.
Bad: - Posts lack category/labels
As you noticed, posts lack only listing categories under which the topic exists. Categories really help find similar posts under the same category. Content Material First of all, I would like to give thumbs up to Norman for making this brilliant Interview series that got us to learn stuff about many Bloggers in the field. And here is my Interview again in case you missed it :P Back to subject, Norman really is doing a creative job making original posts that you can't find in other places. And Whenever possible, he grabs his camera and shoots his own demonstration video. IMO, videos are the very best support to a post. However, I think Norman should participate a little more in responding to posts' replys and discussions. A final word Norman is really doing a great job putting together very original content, but some real attention should be directed onto the blog's right column, RSS feeds, and participation in commentators discussion. And Norman, forgive me but I prefer the old banner. SymbianWorld is a symbian blog, and there are tons of symbian blogs out there, but Norman's key here is being Creative. So keep up the creativity ;) About the changes I mentioned in the beginning, that would be: - Starting next week, Blog reviews are going to posted every 2 fridays.
- At the end of every review, I'll mention the key that each reviewee is digging his way through with. And I mean by key, the thing that makes this blog/Author special, as I mentioned here, Norman's key was being creative.
------------------------------------ Did I miss something? Was it too short? Do you have an opposing opinion or think I've mistaken in a point or more? Let me know what you think so I could do better next time. Thanks. Labels: Blog Reviews
